Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. In this particular painting, the artist has depicted two men engaged in a conversation, seated in a dimly lit room. The composition is rendered with linear, coarse brush strokes articulating the contours of the lean seated figures and suggesting their demeanour.
