A Miniature Study 10725 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subjects being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. The above painting by the artist has a strong element of fantasy and depicts two cherub like figures, sitting on a rock, one playing a flute and another holding a flag. The figures are rendered with linear, fluid pencil strokes articulating the contours, and suggesting the stance of the forms. The painting belongs to a series of reproductions that the artist made as he studied the works of European masters.
