Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted two men burning a trash, which have accumulated over the year, as mentioned in the inscription. This has been executed in fluid, bold ink strokes, suggesting the modelling of the form and bringing out corporeality of the subject.
