Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, the artist has depicted a scene of a rainy day, where people are walking with an umbrella and two of them cycling on the road, probably going to watch a match, as mentioned in the inscription. Nandalal has swiftly executed the composition in bold ink strokes delineating the basic contours and suggesting the demeanour of the forms.
