Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a woman plucking flowers from a tree and some birds have been perched on its branch. This has been executed in fluid, bold lines, accentuating the posture of the figure and bringing out the true form of a tree.
