Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has rendered a woman carrying a bag and walking towards her destination, executed in fluid, bold lines of pen and ink. The trees in the background are rendered in few confident ink strokes, bringing out its true form, adding life and grace to the composition.
