Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a man and a women sitting on a bullock cart with the vegetable basket. This has been executed with bold, rhythmic ink strokes, delineating the contours of the subject in tonal variation and highlighting the facial feature of the figures. The fluid yet firm handling of the lines rendering the tress laden with fruits in the background, adds life and vigour in the composition.
