Volume No. 84(c) : Picture Post Card 11329 Nandalal Bose Pen, ink & pastel on card

Nandalal had firm belief that for the creation of art an intimate understanding of the nature and its ways is imperative. In this postcard, he has studied the detail sketch of Ashoka flower with its stem and leaves, as mentioned in the inscription. This has been executed in fluid, bold strokes of ink, defining its contour, while shades of pastel colour in tonal variation convey depth in the composition.
