Volume No. 84(c) : Picture Post Card 11336 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink and pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard, he has depicted a detail sketch of a blacksmith shaping up the wrought iron with his hammer and surrounded with his tools. This has been rendered in fluid, bold strokes of ink, suggesting the modelling of the form and highlighting the facial feature of the figure.
