Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals. In this series of pen and ink sketches, he has closely observed and documented a variety of flora common to the Bengal region. This particular sketch by the artist depicts a bunch of flower in fine, calligraphic strokes that bring out the details of the form in a delicate manner.
