Volume No. 84(e) : Picture Post Card 11359 Nandalal Bose Pen & Ink on postcard

Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a woman draped in a transparent, thin garment and walking along the field, carrying palm fruits for the morning breakfast as suggested in the inscription. This has been rendered in fluid, bold strokes of ink that suggest the modelling of the forms and accentuating the posture of the figure.
