Volume No. 85(b) : Picture Post Card 11378 Nandalal Bose Pen & Ink on postcard

Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted two women carrying a stalk of leaves over their heads and one of them holding a rake, returning after pruning and collecting leaves in autumn. This has been executed in fluid yet firm, bold strokes of ink, suggesting the modelling of the forms and adding grace to the composition.
