Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted few people travelling on a bullock cart amidst a rural landscape. This has been executed in fluid, rhythmic strokes in calligraphic style delineating the forms, adding grace and vigour in the composition.
