Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted two women each carrying haystack over their heads and walking on the grass. This has been executed in fluid, fine lines in calligraphic style adding grace and vigour in the composition.
