Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted the sculptural image of a person playing fluid, probably a Hindu god. This has been executed in fluid, smudge strokes of pencil delineating the form of the body and giving depth in the illustration.
