Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted two women walking together. The artist has rendered the figures with fluid, fine strokes of ink. The folds of the saree have been swiftly executed in thick lines suggesting the modelling of the form.
