PICTURE POST CARD 11492 Nandalal Bose Pen & Ink on postcard

×
This is another one of Nandalal's quickly executed sketches. Characterised by their loose strokes and outlines, their purpose is to serve as studies of poses as well as an exploration of forms at their most basic. In this particular sketch, Nandalal has depicted a guard standing by an elephant. He has rendered the emaciated animal in long, brisk strokes of pen that delineate the contours of the form, adding rhythm and dynamism to the composition.
