This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'The Plants' executed from his memory and experiences. The twirl in the brush strokes of the above painting is unlike the strong dabs and dashes used by Nandalal to create most of the paintings in this series. This painting was purchased from collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose, children of Nandalal Bose.
