×
This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'The Waves' executed from his memory and experiences. The collection of his works in NGMA has several of these paintings, where the artist has depicted the playful and dynamic nature of waves, sometimes rippled, swayed or coming towards the shore, evoking the quivering movement of water with an admirable ease by means of his tactful brush strokes. This painting was purchased from collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose.
