Sketch from Drawing Book No. 9 9692 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal had a firm belief that for the creation of art an intimate understanding of nature and its way is imperative. He made instantaneous visual records of anything amusing happening in his surroundings, the subjects being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals. In this detailed pencil drawing, the fluid handling of the lines define the contours, while the smudged strokes and shading suggest the modelling of the form, resulting in the realistic representation of the fish.
