In this sketch, Nandalal has depicted a bird amidst foliage in soft, fluid strokes of the pencil. As the inscription suggests, he has reproduced the image from the sketch book of an acquaintance, Moni Gupta who in turn drew it at Ceylone (now, Sri Lanka).
