Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching and drawing, instantly recording in the postcard sized papers his subjects from the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. The above monochrome sketch by the artist is a realistic study of a human palm, rendered with stark, continuous ink strokes although the handling is both fluid and firm.
