Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this quick sketch, Nandalal has rendered a waist band of bodhisattva from Sarnath as suggested in the inscription. There is also a scribble of a part of a pillar at a corner.
