Nandalal's smaller sketches are testimony of his keenness to observe and his empathy for the environment in which he lived. The above sketch depicts a cultivation machine in the foreground, trees and cows seen at a distance. The artist has executed the illustration with quick pencil strokes, which delineate the contours of the forms and add life and vigour to the composition.
