Nandalal practised sketching devotionally every day. He observed flowers and trees, animals, landscapes and architecture, taking notes on the visual panorama and reproducing them on paper. In this particular sketch, he has depicted a landscape with two children playing around the tree trunk in soft, fine strokes of the pencil that bring out the corporeality of the forms and add life and vigour to the composition.
