Nandalal practised sketching devotionally everyday. He observed flowers and trees, animals, landscapes and architecture, taking notes on the visual panorama and reproducing them on paper. In this particular sketch, he has depicted a vast rural landscape with four men carrying a palanquin down a path in quick, scribbled strokes of the pencil.
