Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. Here in this postcard sketch, he has depicted a group of human figures, some of them standing while others squatting on the floor. The sketch has been executed in loose, brisk pencil strokes that suggest the corporeality of the forms and add life and vitality to the composition.
