Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. Here in this postcard sketch, he has depicted a mother plucking jujubes from a tree as her children look on, in soft, smudged strokes that delineate the contours of the forms while shading suggests the modelling of their bodies, adding life and vitality to the composition.
