Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment in the representation of its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of his figures. In this postcard sketch, he has studied a woman in a rural landscape, carrying her belongings. The sketch has been executed with soft, fluid pencil strokes that have been delineated in a swift manner, suggesting the modelling of her robust body.
