Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment in the representation of its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of his figures. In this postcard sketch, he has studied two women on their way to a fair on the festival of Janmashtami as the inscription suggests, executed in soft, fluid pencil strokes that have been delineated in a swift manner, suggesting the modelling of their bodies.
