Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment in the representation of their varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of his figures. In this postcard sketch, he has rendered a peacock in sweeping brush strokes, in the manner of the Far-Eastern painting traditions, employing the tonal variations of a single black ink.
