    Nandalal Bose

Sketch from Drawing Book No. 26 9916 Nandalal Bose Water colour and pencil on paper

×
Nandalal exploration of different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment in the representation of lines in its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of the figures. In this postcard sketch, he has depicted a village woman carrying a pot on her head, executed with quick bold pencil strokes, suggesting the modelling of her robust body while the soft fluid strokes of watercolour provide colourations in some parts of the composition.
