Sketch Book No.1 10023 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal had a firm belief that for the creation of art an intimate understanding of nature and its ways is imperative. The range of his artistic expression is seen in the changing Indian landscapes, varied images of nature and the portrayal of people and places. This sketch by him, the seventh in the series of eleven sketches of roosters and hens in the album, depicts a rooster, roughly rendered in long, loose strokes that define the contours of its body. He also studies it in another template on the side, as it pecks on food.
