Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this eighth sketch of a series of eleven sketches of roosters and hens in the album, Nandalal depicts a rooster pecking on its feathers, swiftly sketched in short strokes. He also depicts a rabbit lying on the ground in a simple line drawing in a smaller template.
