The fervent sketching of his surroundings, allowed Nandalal to meditate upon the elements of nature. In this fifth sketch of a series of eleven sketches of aquatic life in the album, Nandalal depicts a Trout, a freshwater fish, carefully rendered in fine, delicate lines. The light shading accentuates the texture of the scales on its body.
