Nandalal produced a series of sketches on postcard sized papers depicting the environs of Santiniketan and its surrounding areas. In this eighth sketch of a series of eleven sketches of aquatic life in the album, Nandalal has rendered a catfish, a freshwater fish found abundantly in Bengal. He has executed the sketch in a few confident strokes that add vitality to the slender body.
