Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard, he has rendered a sketch of a man, wearing a headdress and a long coat, suggestive of an influence from the Far Eastern cultures. The fluid handling of the lines, rendered in dark pencil strokes suggests the modelling of the body and the facial features which have been rendered in an impressionistic manner.
