Nandalal in his pencil sketches has experimented with the representation of lines to add texture, vigour and life to the form of the figures. This sketch portrays a lady dressed in traditional attire that has a Far Eastern influence. The fluid handling of the lines rendered in dark pencil strokes suggests the modelling of the body and the facial features which are rendered in an impressionistic manner.
