Sketch Book No. 5 10403 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. His exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of the figure. Here he has rendered the sketch of a blind man holding a stick in his hands. The fluid handling of the line suggests the modelling of the body and the smudged pencil strokes highlight the facial features of the man.
