Nandalal has here reproduced the foliage covered landscape of the Bagh caves with a few visitors, rendered with smudged strokes and light shading. The minute detailing of the leaves on the trees adds vivacity to the entire view. As per the inscription, the drawing was sketched during Nandalal's 1921 visit to the Bagh caves, a group of rock-cut architectural monuments, in present-day Madhya Pradesh, India.
