Nandalal has here rendered the sketch of the platform where Ramkrishna Paramhansa, a 19th century religious scholar and priest at the Dakshineshwar temple, in West Bengal, would meditate. Nandalal intently studies the structure and character of the Panchvati trees and their dangling branches that surround the seat, rendered in fluid contouring lines. The slight shading and smudging brings out a certain depth, enhancing the texture of the forms.
