Nandalal has here sketched a rural settlement of thatched huts surrounded by trees and bushes, creating form out of a gradation of light and dark scribbles. The hasty and blunt strokes lend a rustic touch to the scene. This drawing has been sketched at Patisar, a village in present-day Bangladesh, where the Tagore family's zamindari was headquartered.
