In this image Nandalal has traced the designs of two ornaments, probably bangles, using the technique of frottage - where a pencil is rubbed on paper that has been placed over a textured surface to get an impression of the pattern below. The sketch illustrates Nandalal's impulse to imitate the motif in its original form to enrich his knowledge of design and ornamental work.
