    Nandalal Bose

Sketch from Sketch Book No. 8 10559 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals or anything that fascinated him. Often the sketches were small in scale although invigorating with the rich detailing of the artist?s observations, experiences and sojourns to various places. In this image, Nandalal renders the broken base of a pillar at the Bagh Caves in Madhya Pradesh, as the inscriptions suggests.
