Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch he renders an earthen vessel that he encountered on one of his travels to the Ajanta caves in Maharashtra,  in long, loose strokes of a pencil.
