In this postcard, Nandalal sketches a stylised swan in firm, fluid lines, delineating the body and ornamental feathers. As per the inscription, this drawing is a reproduction of the stone sculpture of Dattatreya (a Hindu deity considered to be an incarnation of Vishnu) from Badami (Karnataka) published in the book, 'Elements of Hindu Iconography', in 1914.
