In this postcard, Nandalal sketches an ornamentally designed hybrid bird, rendered in dark and smooth lines, defining the contours of the decorative motif. As per the inscription, this drawing is a reproduction from the book "The Paintings in the Buddhist cave temples of Ajanta" by John Griffiths (a British artist who worked in India during the 19th-20th century), published in two volumes in 1896.
