    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Sketch Book No. 19 10905 Nandalal Bose Pencil on postcard

×
In this postcard, Nandalal sketches a hamsa or a sacred swan holding a water weed in its mouth, an ornamental metal oil container used mostly in South India, rendered in thick flowing lines. As the inscription suggests, the images have been reproduced from the book, 'Illustrations of Metal Work in Brass & Copper, Mostly South Indian' by Edgar Thurston, Velayuda Asari and W.S. Hadaway.
