    Nandalal Bose

Sketch from Sketch Book No.24 11104 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. As the inscription suggests in the above sketch, the artist has depicted a fragment of a Persian carved bronze bowl, where a Persian man is sitting on a decorated, cusped throne. The composition is delineated with linear, fluid yet firm pencil strokes articulating the basic contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
