Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch, the artist has depicted a woman dancing and playing an instrument. The stylised figure is rendered with linear, fluid pencil strokes delineating the basic contours of the body and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
